Amy grew up near Fenelon Falls and did her first nursing
training at Canadore College in North Bay. After
graduation, she moved to the United States, and began working in
a small rural hospital in Kansas. There she gained a wide
variety of experience, and followed it up with a move to
Seattle, Washington in 1999. She obtained a position in
the emergency department of Harbourview Medical Centre, a level
one trauma/teaching facility. She moved back to Ontario in
2002 to attend school and be closer to family. She began
working at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay and also pursuing
her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and her Nurse
Practitioner designation at Ryerson University. She
completed her program in 2006, and has further plans for a
Masters in Nursing degree. She was undaunted by the
challenge of being our founding Nurse Practitioner. She
says ”it’s really rewarding to see the difference you can make,
having an impact in the community.”
